The WTJU Rock Marathon has begun! And you can listen to it online! WTJU is the old station where I used to be a DJ, but they also have DJs with good taste in music. Here’s the marathon schedule so you can plan your weekend around listening to WTJU. I’m looking forward to a bunch this year. Black Cat Rock, Is It Spooky?, New York Rap 1984-1996, Songs the Beatles Gave Away. There’s so much. And the single artist marathon hours: Nilsson, Sigur Ros, Sparklehorse  tribute, Leonard Cohen (happening right now!). And of course the Pavement show. You gotta tune in to U.Va.’s radio station when they feature their alumni (Tuesday @ 9am). Then: Pledge! Online or by calling (434) 924-3959. It’s really a great station and much needed in central Virginia. Your donations go to very good use. They got some cool premiums if that’s your thing too.

So I was a radio DJ for awhile and it always surprises me that (music taste notwithstanding) I wasn’t that bad at it. I don’t exactly have a voice for radio, but I sound downright comfortable on the air at times.

And in my defense, I usually played it pretty straight indie music-wise, only bringing out the Boys II Men as 3am approached.
